The Digital Data Analyst will manage big sets of internal and external data to understand, acquire and predict the behaviour of our viewers and our non-linear/digital content. The successful candidate will own the financial modelling in the digital product development process, as well as data analysis initiatives to increase the effectiveness of our marketing/content performance/monetization efforts in the digital space for an array of media brands that include MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and Paramount, among others. Her/his role starts by understanding thoroughly the variables at play in the success of new products/business models, to then model their interaction and thoroughly understand the sensitivity that resulting financial has to those variables.

Additionally, the analyst should make sure that the right events are registered/trigged in order to be followed and visualized through our current reporting tools managed by the BI and research teams, but then requires autonomy to be able to extract, complement, and analyse data to generate insights and make business decisions for our non-linear content through our websites, social accounts and a set of apps with different business models (business to business, direct to consumer, etc).

The role reports directly into the Director of Digital Product Analytics and Development, and the role is fundamental for the success of the digital team. This person will play a crucial role in embedding a culture of continuous optimisation within the team, championing a data-led approach to decision-making, and working with senior stakeholders to formulate and test new strategies. The position could potentially grow in the Product Development track or the Data Analytics track within the team.

Functions

  • Responsibilities
  • • Estimating the financial impact of new products and business models, by distilling the correct variables at play, elaborating comprehensive multivariate financial models and suggesting changes in the product configuration to maximize profitability
  • • Owning the design, development, validation, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions for the digital business at SWEMEA. This will require coordination with the BI and research teams.
  • • Conduct hands-on modeling/analytics retrieving, compiling, and analyzing large volumes of data from disparate databases into distilled, actionable information and insights for content and monetization decisions.
  • • Develop standardized and specific dashboards and reports with an emphasis on automation and identifying data requirements and data visualization/reporting needs.
  • • Effectively present data and analysis to both internal stakeholders and external clients and 3rd parties

Requirements

  • • BS in Business, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related discipline with 2-4 years of relevant work experience as a Data/BI analyst.
  • • Outstanding quantitative and analytical skills
  • • Passion and interest in the media & entertainment industry and how it is affected by the current digital landscape
  • • High proficiency in Excel
  • • Prior experience with SQL, R or Python is a strong plus
  • • Understanding of the usage and interpretation of statistical methods, as well as the most common Data Science and Machine Learning models and their applications
  • • Interest in finding patterns and gathering insights that can inform a business strategy
  • • Enthusiasm in learning how to use new data tools and automatizing tasks whenever is possible
  • • Prior experience working with growth marketing and product development teams at media and startups is also a plus.
  • • Understanding of e-commerce and the associated transaction funnel analytics
  • • Experience with Business Intelligence visualization tools like Tableau, Lookr, Amplitude, Jupyter etc.
  • • Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and results-oriented but still be an excellent team player with a strong level of service
