Our client is an independent power producer (IPP) committed to designing, building, and operating renewable energy projects that deliver 100% green electricity. With a focus on solar, wind, and hybrid solutions incorporating storage technologies, drives positive social and environmental impact in communities across Europe, particularly in Italy and Spain. With HQ in Spain and a compact, motivated team, the company manages a significant portfolio of operational assets and a 2 GW development pipeline. As part of a prominent European Infrastructure’s Clean Energy Fund, this company is a key player in sustainable energy. They now seek a Chief Operating Officer to lead operations and fuel their ambitious growth. The Position As the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will be a cornerstone of the company’s leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO. This hybrid role oversees the end-to-end operations of renewable energy projects across Europe, with a focus on scaling construction, optimizing asset performance, and integrating advanced technologies. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring operational excellence while aligning with the company’s commitment to sustainability and safety. Frequent travel across Germany, Denmark, Italy, Spain and Sweden will be required to manage teams, assets, and key stakeholder relationships. Key Responsibilities - Operational Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive operational plan to support the company’s growth in Northern Europe, focusing on wind, solar, and storage projects. - Project Execution: Oversee the construction and commissioning of renewable energy projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards. - Asset Optimization: Manage the performance of operational assets, implementing strategies to enhance efficiency, reliability, and profitability. - Technology Integration: Drive the adoption of innovative solutions (e.g., smart grids, battery storage) to improve project flexibility and grid integration. - Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Enforce rigorous safety standards across all operations, fostering a culture of compliance and risk management. - Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing team of project managers, engineers, and asset managers across multiple geographies. - Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with regulators, suppliers, and local communities to ensure project success and compliance with regional standards. Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. - Over 12 years of leadership experience in the renewable energy sector, with expertise in wind, solar, and/or energy storage operations. - Proven success in managing large-scale project portfolios across multiple countries. - Strong understanding of construction management, asset operations, and HSE regulations in the renewable energy industry. - Experience integrating emerging technologies (e.g., energy storage, digital tools) into operational workflows is highly desirable. - Exceptional leadership skills, with a track record of building and motivating diverse, cross-border teams. - Fluency in English and other European languages is a plus. - Willingness to travel regularly across Europe. - Passion for renewable energy and a commitment to operational excellence.
