FUNCTIES
MISSION:
Supervise and coordinate cost planning staff and day to day operations, supporting implementation and guiding the delivery of cost planning procedures and processes to ensure compliance and alignment with organizational objectives. Drive successful financial outcomes to minimise costs and maximise project margin above Strike and Target positions whilst maintaining Quality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Transparent, accurate and timely reporting including Cost to Date, Forecasts, Earned Value and review and Manage R&O position.
• Prepare and present Monthly Cost Report to stakeholders.
• Prepare budget variance explanations and drive actions to mitigate Risks and maximise Opportunities ensuring that these are accurately assessed and flow into Financial Reporting to support management decisions. Drive collaborative behavior with Budget Owners to ensure that Budgets and Forecasts are challenged and create and work to stretch Targets to improve financial outcomes. Delivery of the Milestone Forecasts following optimized stretch budgets.
• Development, tender evaluation, contractor change assessment and contract financial close out.
• Ongoing review and investigation of unusual trends in cost codes, reviewing dockets and invoices to determine if cost codes are up to date and correct.
• Support and develop a 'one team' JV Culture within the Department and Wider Project.
• Build the Brand of the Finance and Cost Control department so it is seen as a 'partner' and 'trusted advisor' to the wider Project and 'delivery teams. Ensuring constant communication and building of relationships.
• Support the development of direct reports and junior employees to drive operational excellence and career progression (both internal and external to the project) over its duration.
• Assist Project Managers in decision making by constantly monitoring budget and expenditure changes, as well as providing regular updates of project status.
• Maintain relationships between estimating, planning and cost control groups to ensure all awareness of all aspects of Project Controls.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and a minimum of 6 years experience in a similar position
• Demonstrated proficiency in operating office technology such as MS Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Sound written and verbal communication skills, combined with demonstrated planning and organizing skills with the ability to organise and implement work priorities.
