Job Description:
The Staff Pipeline Facilities Engineer will join our team in Mexico City, supporting
projects in the United States through various regional offices. This position involves
significant coordination with engineers and designers across all Burns & McDonnell
offices, contributing to a cohesive international team. The engineer will lead from
conceptualization through construction, ensuring designs meet client needs, regulatory
requirements, and contribute to our sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform mechanical and process engineering to support the design development
of projects from the conceptual phase through detailed design completion.
Review and provide markups on design drawings, 3D Models, ISO drawings,
etc., for projects including pipeline, M&R stations, and compressor stations.
Produce complete PFDs and P&IDs from verbal or written descriptions from the
Senior engineer.
Engineer mechanical components like bills of materials for pipes, valves, and
fittings based on project design requirements.
Apply strong knowledge of commonly used mechanical engineering/design
concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the discipline.
Review, analyze, and index pipeline material features and produce engineering
calculations and reports, including hydraulics to support hydrostatic pressure test
designs.
Research and compile project-related data as required by project managers.
Update drawings provided by senior engineers to ensure corrections are made
within multiple CAD-related software.
Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract
administration.
Create project specifications and datasheets for procurement packages.
Create procurement packages, request for quotes, perform bid evaluations, and
recommend vendors.
Perform simulations and analysis on preliminary engineering projects using
software such as AFT products, Pipeline Technical Toolbox, Aspen programs
(especially HYSYS), etc.
Work closely with other disciplines (Piping, Process, Electrical, I&C, Structural,
and Civil) to ensure integrated project delivery.
Attend meetings with clients as needed and perform field inspections,
measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
Be prepared for field assignments and potential travel.
Desire to actively engage in our emerging technology and decarbonization
efforts, including the implementation of hydrogen and carbon capture
technologies within our projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering from an ABET-
accredited program preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience in pipeline facilities engineering, with a
preference for experience in decarbonization technologies.
Professional Engineer (PE) registration or Cédula Profesional preferred.
Proficiency in English and extensive knowledge of engineering principles, codes,
and standards (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE).
Experience with engineering design tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Pipeline
Technical Toolbox, Aspen One, AFT products) and a strong background in
emerging technologies related to carbon
